by Clyde K. on Just moved to the city recently an heard about this club throught a couple people. I went this past weekend on a Saturday night. Dresden& Johnston were playing some great beats. The venue itself was really cool. The crowd also was cool and diverse. Overall I had a great night at an awsome club, and will check it out again.
by Gerard I. on Formerly "The Palace", was a badass joint--used to catch all of my favorite bands here. Then they switched up, and now it's called "Avalon". Funny enough, I don't think I've been to "Avalon" for a concert since they started calling it "Avalon". *shrugs* I'd be very careful and park on the street or somewhere that is not valet. A couple of years ago, I panicked--thinking I would somehow lose my wallet in the pit, and left it in the glove compartment of my friend's car. I got paranoid, coming off of the Rage Against the Machine show, where I did lose my wallet. So, I left it in the glove compartment, the show kicked ass, came back to the car and the 100$ bill I had in my wallet was gone. I kicked up a fury with the attendants, of course, they kept telling me to read the fine print. The problem was that one of the guys got super defensive, and if you've got nothing to hide, why would you get defensive? I'd caught a drum stick from Ken Jay (of Static-X), and was this close to cracking it over the fools head. Anyways, lesson learned, never valet when going to the Palace, er, Avalon. Take your wallet with you. I'm glad I'm old, moshing is stupid now. :)
by Tangela Cheadle on This is a very cool club, and from the looks of their events calendar they get some pretty good DJs through Mighty. I was here on a special event night (it was an after-party following a Guns-n-Roses concert about 2 years ago - I drank red wine with Sebastian Bach!! and hung out with Scott Ian of Anthrax, too). So my experience was kind of biased, because a lot of the people at the club were co-workers or friends of friends, and so I don't know what the normal crowd/music/scene are like here. Strictly speaking by the way this place looked (clean, nice big dance areas, secluded location) and the DJs they book, I would definitely come back.
