by Kristin G. on I hear they have Sunday Rock Band night, its only a rumor and I can't confirm. Their review may go up to 5 stars if thats the case. Apparently warm up is 7-10 and you rock out after. I like Vertigo, I do. I like their DJ,s (Go Tony!) and their playlists. One time I got the DJ to play Toni Tone Tony, "If I ain't got no loot" and it cleared off the dancefloor except for the guy and I who requested it but he still played the whole song. It gets crowded as the night goes on, usually pretty slow around 9 but will be packed by 11-12. I totally dig the kitsch tiki-esque decor and a smokers room is always good. Its cash only, which is one of its down fall, because its kinda a dive but kinda a dance dive, I'm not sure really but who cares, its fun! Oh and it has a cover sometimes, so try to get in before it, although the cover is usually minimal ($3-$5). I had a my birthday here a few years ago and it was a great location. We started with drinks at Starlight lounge, hit up Edinburgh castle for shots and dinner, went to Vertigo for some dancing and ended the night at Blur. I honestly don't think I could spend the whole night at Vertigo but its one of the few places if you want to dance and not at a club (Element) on Polk street. Its a definite stop over at some point in your night.
by Elli Milanowski on What a fun place! There are bars outside, inside, and a huge dance floor! Last night was an amateur strip contest and there were a few cute boys who stripped down to their skivies and shook what their mama's gave them! Some shook it better than others, but isn't that the story everywhere?! One of the bars near the front was also running gay porn previews, which was a little odd... But when in Austin! The drinks were potent, and it was a lot of fun! OCH is a great place to go with a group of friends!
