I've be eating at Tierra Colombiana since I was 6 years old (so for 16 years) and the place was a small hole in the wall.  This is, by far, the most delicious Colombian and Cuban food you will find in Philadelphia.  I know they have a sister restaurant downtown (Mixto), but you can't beat the servings and price of Colombiana.  Sure, it's in the heart of the ghetto, but that's how you know it's good. There are so many amazing options to choose from, but here's a list of my favorites:  bandeja tipica (a bit of everything if you're indecisive), the avocado and mango salad, the grilled red snapper, the churrasco argentino, and the chicken a caballo.  That's only a few of my favorites.  The soups of the day are always tasty, as is the sangria and flan.  Their massive cappuccino and espresso machines churn out fantastic cafe con leches and their lulu juice (with milk!) tastes just like the one's I've had in Colombia.  And don't forget their assortment of Latin sodas like Postobon and Colombiana. This place is simply the best.

I'm sure this place will be great once it gets its clientele going but we were there 3 times and I think there wasn't a single girl in the place. And only about a dozen guys. We were there on a Friday around 10, then again around 11pm then Saturday at some point that was early as well. Maybe it was just early for this spot. Maybe by midnight or 1am, it's packed but I didn't see it. Well, actually there was one girl there. The go-go dancer! and that's the only reason that this place is getting 3 stars. Very cute. And it's a nice touch to hire dancers. Can't be faulted for that. But I went up to the bartender and said: "so, like, you guys have exactly ONE go-go dancer?" and he said: "well, some nights we have two." Yeah, get a few more. Anyway. The downstairs, dark, dungeon-y feel is kind cool and goes with the dark metal "Prague" DJ, dance mood. But they just need to get the place going and it'll be fine.

Off the beaten path for those of us that visit these neighborhoods for drink and revelry instead of breaking into cars and pooping on the sidewalk. I moved to SF so I could frequent bars like this.
