by Ken G. on Such a cool wine bar in the Castro. One of the reasons why I don't travel to the Castro very often is that, most of the places aren't all that appealing. I was here with a friend recently and had a great time at this spot. The ambiance is low-key, but cool. The wine selection is fantastic and the servers are chill and friendly. It actually feels like an escape from some of the hectic scene outside. With a place like this, it's nice to have an alternative option to the mostly divey and loud establishments in the area.
by Whitley Wiater on After hearing so much about this place, I finally went on Saturday night with a group of friends. My friends and I were definitely underdressed, but we arrived super late (almost 1AM) and they were still bitches about the dress code. Luckily my friend lives a couple blocks away so was able to throw on a nicer shirt and come back by 1. Unfortunately they play only trance/house/etc after 1, which was a big disappointment seeing as we came to Harlot specifically to dance to some bootyshaking music. I was bored after 20 minutes. Another weird thing was the crowd - granted it was Valentine's Day night, but there were SO many old people there! I guess it's targeted to the mature crowd, but I thought it was sort of weird that there were like, moms dancing around me. They weren't exaclty MILFs either... maybe that explains why it was so empty on the floor too. Ew. I'll probably come again just because a lot of people seem to like it here, hopefully we can get the right kind of music going.
