I haven't been back to The Local since the all out olfactory assault I endured back in 2006-2007 timeframe there. I had actually thought I had never been until my friend Liz said it would be a good spot to hit up for a few drinks. However, I remembered it as soon as I pulled into the parking lot with a particularly aghast look on my face. Lo and Behold!!! They have smoke machine thingies that filter it out now. About damn time. Well, I went there lastnight after some celebration based bar-hopping. I must admit, it was amazingly non-smokey. Now, there were only about 30-35 people in there lastnight. However, that's a marked difference from last time I went when I washed my clothes 3 times and couldn't get the smoke smell out. Not mention, I washed myself 3 times and couldn't get the smoke smell out of my hair. I DON'T EVEN HAVE HAIR!!!! Bald is bliss. Anyways, I saddled up to the bar for a trip into Poncey-Highland ambiance. The Local lastnight should've been in Little Five. This at least made for excellent people watching. Plus, the draft beer was colder than most places. A special way to my heart is a dive bar setting, fries and ranch, and beer cold enough to give me a brain freeze. Giddy up. I felt out of place though. I didn't have a tattoo or have one of those cool hats that people in NYC or Little Five wear... Or have an Atari T-Shirt.... Or wear rimmed glasses (eyesight be perfect yo!!).... Or smoke cigarettes like that is my only source of Oxygen on a Carbon Dioxide planet.... Ok, I am done. All in all, I love people watching. I love cold beer. I love cheese pizza that reminds me of the square pizzas you got in 5th grade. I love fries and ranch. I am now back in the love with The Local. Keep those filters clean people!!
