I've been eyeing SCK based on reviews and considering them for a group dinner for a reunion in May.  I went to visit tonight to check out the food and vibe and it's WAY smaller than the website makes it seem, so definitely won't work for my group, but it is a cute quaint little spot good for a date.  My friend and I were seated next to the fireplace and I thought if she was a he he'd be gettin some tonight but I digress... Our server was very nice, and about half way through our meal the manager stopped by as well.  I mentioned to him my needs and he stated he'd be happy to show me the rest of the place and chat about group events when we were finished which he did.  Service wise I'm very happy with SCK. Meal wise, I'm undecided.  I have been salivating over the shrimp scallops and grits so that is what I ordered.  My friend ordered the fried chicken.  She said it was good, but then she said it was bland which makes no sense at all, but what I can say is that it looked a bit dark to me.  I personally think fried chicken should be golden brown, so it didn't look to appealing to me.  My dish...meh...I wouldn't order it again.  It was one of those things where it was more than I could eat but not enough especially for 19 bucks ya know?  On a bed of "creamy" (read pasty and bland) grits came 3 shrimp and 2 scallops.  WAY OVERPRICED.  I never salt my food, but I had to salt the grits and still ended up picking out the meat (which was sufficiently tasty) and eating only a few bites of the grits that were covered in gravy and salt.  So for 20 bucks I ate 3 shrimp 2 scallops and a small biscuit.  In fairness, I could have built it up in my head so much that nothing would have satisfied me.  I will say the biscuit was pretty friggin melt in your mouth and ya can't be mad at that.  Even though I'm kind of intrigued by some of their other menu items, I won't be breaking my neck to return to SCK, not because it's bad, but because they actually have a kind of limited menu and none of the items scream "come back and eat me, I'll change your life!"  Also cause I have a ton of other places to try and nothing about SCK screamed regular spot to me.  Also, I didn't care for having to pay to park and there is some dilapidated structure next door that really needs to be taken care of.  It was dark, so I don't know exactly what's going on there, but  uh, yeah, you shouldn't have to contend with that next to a place that serves 20 dolla grits.
