by Christina N. on I've been to Busby's twice, once on a Friday and once on a Saturday. The first time I came to Busby's was on a Friday night for my friend's friend birthday. They have valet parking (i'm assuming for a few bucks) but I always try to find parking on the streets. The cover charge was $10 bucks after 11pm. I, however, was lucky enough to get in for free. :) Once we walked inside, it was a major cock fest and a lot of asians. :( Sigh another asian night. Busby's has a little bit of everything. Once you walk up stairs there is a VIP room in front and a smoke room, to your left there is a dance floor, and to your right there is a bar and a game room. The birthday girl reserved the VIP room and we were able to order drinks from a waitress instead of going to the bar. I was really impressed how she memorized everyone's order without writing it down...until we went for second rounds and she messed up our order and gave us only 5 shots of patron when we asked for 6. I forgot the pricing on the drinks were, but I know the girly ones were like $8 dollars and the AMF was $15 dollars. It also, took our waitress a long ass time to close down our tab, but I can't blame her since she was the only waitress in the VIP room. The dance floor was fun and not too crowded. I never been into the game room, but I remember seeing pool tables. My second time here was actually better than the first! My boyfriend and I came here for another friend's birthday. We had to pay for cover charge this time around since my boyfriend and I arrived around 11pm and they close the guest list around that time. Hooray! for no cock fest time this around but there was still a lot of asians. I finally went into the smoke room this time and its pretty small! One of the downfalls of my night was this crazy bitch throwing 2 glass cups on the ground right next to me. -__- I don't know why but it seemed like everyone was party fouling through out the whole night because I kept hearing glass cups breaking. Overall both nights were fun and yay for strong drinks. :)
by Preeti B. on The only way we were able to walk into this place was because it was before 11PM... and the only other people in here were crinkly-wrinkly-rich-old-guys feelin up their trophy dates. Yup...nothin but class all the way for us. We tried the champagne cocktails, which were probably worth the $15 pricetag...but I'd prefer to spend that at a speakeasy than a place like this. Sitting amidst a wall of gold skulls and chains almost drove us to try to do a ghetto remake of a 90's Alice and Chains music video. I will say the dj is LIVE... and the only reason I'd go back is to dance to his grooves. It's a place you want to be "seen," but ya know what? I'm happy being seen as a drunkass lunatic on Avenue C.
by Berniece Stockhoff on ugh.... went here on a saturday for my birthday party. WHAT A MISTAKE the place was EMPTY... on a SATURDAY NIGHT thats ultra un-cool by my standards. it makes me sad that asian people try to make a place for themselves to enjoy and there i was... a young 20s asian american girl... pretty dress, ready to a good time and the place is kind of a dud. the music made me think of me sneaking into nightclubs when i was in highschool and in the begining of college. its not exactly up to date hey, but if youre into the older stuff, then thats good for you! i liked it because its familiar to me. but i do want to enjoy more 2008 beats. furthermore, there is a FIFTY DOLLAR minimum for opening a tab with your credit card.... dude.... dont call me cheap. just practical... i didnt have to pay cover because i set up by birthday party there. otherwise i think its maybe 15 dollars for ladies?? 20 for men? im not sure the decor was pretty. music? old bathroom? clean-- the lovely attendant takes care of it! people? cheapo men and kiiiind of snobby girls. the ONLY dude who bought me a drink was this dude who spilled mine. of course if you spill mine you MUST replace it. would i go here again? NO! the club was DEAD at 1 30 am thats the sign of a not so awesome place
