utttchhhh uttch utchhh utchhh! (sounded better in my head) I can still hear the techno beats inside my head. Awesome sound system. I mean it's great if your'e a house junkie looking for a European forest to drown in because you sure can't afford to drown in the drinks. I don't think their prices were consistent either which sucks because my guy friend ended up paying so much more for the same drink. However, we did meet some very nice people so it was cool. If you're into enjoying house music at a shi shi spot, it's great. I'd rather swang my hair somewhere else ^__~ Price: $$-$$$ Service: decent Ambiance: it's pretty inside, feels like you're in an ihome cube if ihome made cubes that big. http://www.youtube.com... hahah!! Groups:yes, there are booths Would I come back? w/ my house friends = )

The only way we were able to walk into this place was because it was before 11PM... and the only other people in here were crinkly-wrinkly-rich-old-guys feelin up their trophy dates. Yup...nothin but class all the way for us. We tried the champagne cocktails, which were probably worth the $15 pricetag...but I'd prefer to spend that at a speakeasy than a place like this. Sitting amidst a wall of gold skulls and chains almost drove us to try to do a ghetto remake of a 90's Alice and Chains music video. I will say the dj is LIVE... and the only reason I'd go back is to dance to his grooves. It's a place you want to be "seen," but ya know what? I'm happy being seen as a drunkass lunatic on Avenue C.

A truly voyeuristic experience. Performances start around 1:30am and get pretty raunchy. They definitely strive to shock, disgust, provoke, entertain, and titillate simultaneously. The whole place oozes of exclusivity, so part of the thrill is just managing to get in. If you do get in, the best way to enjoy The Box is to talk yourself into a table (by joining people who are already seated) and some free drinks. Don't actually pay the ridiculous amounts they charge for that crap. Smoking of all sorts abounds out in the open, and some bathroom stalls have built-in cushioned benches for... your convenience. The crowd varied in age but all gave the same vibe - moneyed. Or maybe that's my assumption because a single drink costs upward of $20! Glad to have experienced one night of hedonism here, but for me, that happily fills my quota.
