I have been here a few times with a friend for lunch. The atmosphere is really a neat throw back. Other than the look of the place is it nothing to write home about. The food is average and over priced. It is easily a $20 lunch for a sandwich and soup in basic Americana fashion. Sadly this place is nothing more than a overpriced diner.

While the decor and "attitude" of the restaurant are selling points for some, what always made Tao great to me was that it was an Asian place with good desserts. Asian AND with good desserts. That was their edge to me. We've been to Tao a few times, mainly for birthdays, and have always had a great meal and a good time. This time was more of a "good" meal and a good time as several menu items have been changed. The dessert menu has been changed a good deal - so no more Chocolate Raspberry Wontons. (Why take this off the menu? It was why I came here to start with!) Luckily they have other good desserts, though the Giant Fortune Cookie was sort of a letdown. The previously-awesome Fuji Apple Springrolls are different now too (they used to be light and flaky - now they're more doughy and chewy). Boo. My advice: If you've eaten here before, make sure they still have what you want before you head out to dinner as they've changed their menu. As for appetizers, don't get the "new" chicken satay - it was weird. Instead, get the awesome Chilean Sea Bass. It's still good food and a memorable experience, but know what you're getting into. (And know that Cokes, at 3.50 a piece, are NO free refills!)

Meh. I promoted here for awhile, awhile being a year..so I guess FOREVER. It's alright. They've remodeled a couple times but it still looks bleh. The restaurant upstairs was nicely remodeled with fire places and nice booths but the food is TERRIBLE. And over-priced, double-downers. The security were almost never nice, even after they saw me EVERY Friday..minus a select 2 or 3. It has a decent patio and the only thing I like about it is the nice view you get of Hollywood Blvd upstairs.
