I agree with alot of the other reviews on the senior citizen thing.......which may explain some of the blandness other reviewers complained about. Okay, the PR, love it or hate it. For me, the Rib is sort of a ritual. I go there for an early dinner with my MOMMY, or whomever, before theater. The first time I went was the best time. It gave the impression of being the kind of place a girl (or guy) would feel obligated to go upstairs (its in a hotel), and......................after being taken to dinner there. It feels like being in a movie, GOODFELLAS, to be exact......remember the scene where the crew was in the restaurant running up a tab, and the poor guy came over and asked to be paid, and they went crazy on him and broke a bottle over his head? Yah, like that I suppose, before the assault and battery. I love the crabcake, I would MARRY the crabcake, and the shrimp coctail looks like its on steroids! They use the hugest shrimp ever, and I love the coctail sauce. Pungent, spicy, flavorful. I have never had a problem with any of my dishes, except wanting more! I love the creme brulee, and my mommy raves about the coffee.......of all things! I would say the Prime Rib is an experience, and a place you just have to go to, and see how things are done. Try the food, and go from there. If you don't like it, feel free to criticize, but its just like the old people they serve. No one is going to give two shits about your opinion, and it won't change anything or deter those of us who love it from going.
by Ric T. on Came here Saturday night, Meat packing district was rocking, though most of Manhattan is dead usually at this point in July, this area was still full of drunken bimbos and yuppies.. The outside of this place alone is very classy and a seems to resemble the facade of a fine restaurant. Once inside, place can be described as Old School, it was tastefully designed and definitely completely the opposite of modern. Kind of Old World Feel, only downside was the trash that came here on this night, not really that good looking of a crowd, tons of out of towner Euro/Wealthy South American types.You may ask what I mean, well I had some giant mexican girl (5'10/150plus) ask me to give her friend a kiss, sorry I wanted a girl not a Antonio Banderas with a wig on, actually he would be better looking than this group. Didnt pay to get in and a friend bought me a couple of rounds of drinks, another group of buddies also had a table so not too sure how much drinks are. Sure there in the usual 15-20 bend over and take it range.. The music was all over the place, from Michael Jackson, to Oasys mixed with Jayz... Not my style, either keep it all hip-hop or House.. This wasn't as bad as Vegas Top 40, but really keep it one way or another. Chicks were dancing all over the banquets, place seemed to die out by 230 am.. Bathrooms in this place are upstairs on the second floor, off to the side of a VIP terrace, separate bathroom stalls line the long hallway which make for a interesting unisex bathroom. Apparently some crazy stuff could go on up here. Was so wacked and the hallway so dark it was a interesting trip to leak the lizard. The only thing going on this night was a bunch of Albanians who all piled into a E class pretending they were A listers with there "model" girlfriends. Sorry buddy, your girlfriend is 5'3 with heels and her chicklet teeth along with her garbage can shaped body=mediocre Trash bag. Good job spending over 2 grand, glad I dont have your life. Definitely would come back to this place on a Tuesday/Thursday/Sunday, off nights in the city are really the best. The Friday/saturday Vinny Tortellini crowd isnt my cup of tea. Overall this place is nice and a good time.
by Dorris Fahnestock on I scrolled around to see what everyone else thinks of this place but "I LOVED IT"!!!!!!!! Maybe cus I didn't eat there??? I went last night. A Thursday night ... and this place was poppin'!!!! (I'm just gonna have to be straight up here but ...) The men ... the many, many, HOT, hotter than HOT men, OMG!!!!!! for a straight chick to be in the middle of it, whoa!!! Yes, I questioned many, many times, why are they swinging with the other team???? I loved that I walked in and the smell of the crowd - seriously, it was heavenly. Maybe it was because I got there at about 10pm. It wasn't too packed but packed enough. Review material time ... the crowd? The crowd was mostly of men last night - did I say that already? I loved that there was no cover and there was a club with hot go-go dancers underground. (or in the basement if you really need to know) The outdoor is cozy - beautiful interior design and architecture. I loved the way they upholstered the wall to the right - right before you go upstairs which is probably the restaurant. I liked the space upstairs as well ... however, I was disappointed that they didn't have any signature cocktails. Folks ... I liked it! I had good time. (and the eye-candy??? definitely to die for!)
