This was my first time at the Cal Academy of Sciences ever and it was awesome! They were doing a Sharktoberfest event but regardless of what the theme is, you'll enjoy yourself. When describing it to my friend recently, I called it a "smart meat market"- there were a lot of good looking folks and a lot of fodder for breaking the ice, though I'm sure the booze helped as well. The rainforest is a must-see exhibit and although we got there too late for the planetarium, that's on the list for next time. We were wearing jeans but it was anything goes (within reason) as far as dress. Plenty of people looked like they were coming straight from a club or work, so come in whatever you feel like, though I'd suggest some comfy shoes. The Nightlife cocktail is pretty tasty (with vodka, cranberry and champagne) and I enjoyed my pork bun in the cafeteria, though my friend thought it was too gingery. Definitely something I'll be doing again!

I discovered this restaurant 5 years ago and I still love it. I have eaten at both their South Street and Center City locations, but prefer the Center City spot. On the weekends, it's best to arrive early. The outdoor seating is usually full. This restaurant is great for groups and you can order Family Style dishes off the menu. I highly recommend the pasta dish with the shrimp and chicken. It's my favorite!

The venue is certainly beautiful and the events they hold here certainly make full use of the ambiance and generally are fun. However what's always a pain is the club nights that happen here. Lines are purposely held long to make it look happening, and the sad thing is it seems to work. I don't understand why so many people bear lining up at this place. Most of the time I always see the line full of single guys who are denied admittance unless they're with a female companion or are willing to shell out the hundreds of dollars for bottle service. Granted this is typically the case at most places, however it seems the guys who line up here are fully aware and willing to go through with this process.
