Night at Bubble Lounge = waiting an eternity for it to end... The place looks inviting with all the beautiful decor - tables, sofas, carpet, etc but downstairs is a dungeon. I went down for the little girl's room and had to wait for 15 minutes. If you need to go, be prepared to hold it in. Drunk girls + friends + restroom = super long wait. Wanted to dance for a little while but I changed my mind as soon as I stepped into the dance floor - I felt like I was in a stuffy jail cell or something. It just didn't had that dancing vibe to it. After the restroom break, we went back up to meet with our friends. *checks times* OMG Only haf-an-hour went by!!! It was only 11:30pm and we wanted to leave already. Don't get me wrong. We like to have fun but Bubble Lounge is not fun at all... crowded; everyone stepping/pushing into each other; stuffy; large ratio of guys to girls... Plus side: no cover, short wait (for me and a few friends)

I need to ask myself, "Why do I keep returning?" It's just not good. In fact, the Mexican government could sue for using the word "Mex" in any any description of this place. The food is generally bad. With so many great Mex/Tex-Mex options in this city, there is no reason to go there for it. It's uninspired, lacks creativity and flavor and is over-priced. The service is fine, but I feel the servers are always working to hard to sell me to buy more and the kitchen is slow and can easily take 20 minutes to bring you one dish of food. Drinks are OK, but the 2 drink limit on Mexican Martini's is BS and they would card your grandfather - so make sure pops has his ID with him.

Not since Universe at 177 Townsend, has San Francisco had a really great place for gay men, and their friends to dance like crazy. I have been to a number of "straight" events at Ruby Skye, and nothing compares to walking in and looking down upon 600 guys with no shirts on, and some really hot women right in the thick of it. Considering the guys and girls use the same bathrooms there is usually quite a line (but girls can cut in front), but, it is usually no more than a 3 minute wait for a drink, and the smoking lounge is just as great as the dancefloor when you need a break. It is usually held on the third Sunday of the month, but may change due to holidays, so check the website. Party starts at 6pm ($15 before 6:30, $20 after), and goes until midnight.
