by Arlen Wages on To summarize and save you time, I would be willing to try it again. But for those of you who like substance to their pizza place reviews... This place has a interesting atmosphere. It's a place that has slices for sale in the front, but then there is a full bar in there, too. We got three whole pies for the 10 of us: a plain pie, a pepperoni pie, and a chicken ranch pie. The pizza was pretty good. Not excellent, but tasty and huge. For a brick oven baked pizza, the crust was not as crispy as you usually get from those furnaces. It is dusted with garlic powder, so your breath will probably be kicking when you're done, so bring a mint for yourself and everyone else. We also got a smathering of apps. The fries we got were decent, but needed some kind of dip, they didn't even bring us ketchup. The onion rings looked good but I didn't get to try'em. The wings also looked great, but again, did not try any. They have a decent happy hour: $3 beer, wine or mixed drinks. That's not half bad. Service was good, but sparse, we were lucky not a whole lot of others were in there at the time.
by tiannaaah J. on Another fancy fusion restaurant with expensive, mediocre food. I came here on a Saturday night with three of my girl friends for a girl's night out. For appetizer, we ordered a plate of sashimi, vegetable kakiage, and their version of ceasar salad. Sashimi was ok, but definitely not as fresh as those served at authentic Japanese restaurants like Sakae, Sushi Tomi, and Yuzu... Vegetable kakiage is basically deep-fried tempura batter with bits and pieces of shredded vegetables. Salad was bland. Of all the appetizers, the only thing I slightly enjoyed was the sashimi. For the main course, I had the grilled kurobuta dish which came in huge chunks still attached to bones, meaning it required knives and forks to dissect, but the waiter only gave us chopsticks. Hey... you're a fusion restaurant, why try so hard to force people to use chopsticks? Anyways, the meat was tough, and I left more than half of it on the plate. Also had a bite of the poached salmon my friend ordered, which was also pretty bland and dry. For dessert, we shared the chocolate mousse cake and the okinawa fried doughnut. I thought the chocolate mousse cake was pretty good, and the rice crackers hidden in the cake gave it a nice crispy accent. Doughnut, oh the other hand, was too sweet and greasy, and the sprinkled sugar literally flied all over the place with every bite. I think in the end, each of us paid $65 for the food + a bottle of white wine. The food was mediocre, but with that said, it's not a bad place for girls to hang out because the atmosphere is nice with good live jazz performance in the background. Next time I'd probably just come here for drinks and light snacking instead of a full course meal.
