Happy Hour Review It was 4 pm on a lazy, but do-gooding Sunday afternoon. My WeHo pals and I had walked dogs for the Amanda Foundation in Beverly Hills and were looking for a happy hour in West Hollywood. The Abbey was packed like sardines and very loud, so we headed north for St. Felix to find no one (not even employees!) there. This was at 4:01 pm despite their daily 4-8 pm happy hour), so we wandered slightly eastward and found ourselves at the quieter and spacious Eleven bar where happy hour runs daily from 5 - 8 pm (on Sundays, 3 - 8 pm) and the black bathrooms are co-ed! A group of five, we found a great outside table to people watch on the boulevard and take some afternoon sun. We ordered a combination of their drink specials - mixed well drinks for $5, bottled beers for $3, and a mimosa for $5 (thought we might have been getting a better deal on this :). From their $5 happy hour appetizer menu, my buddy and I shared the calamari and our friends shared the Belgian Fries (with salt & pepper seasoning and curry ketchup), and bacon-wrapped dates. The calamari was good, a small portion, but fine for $5, and the fries were delish! Vegetarian me has no comment on the bacon-wrapped dates, but they did disappear pretty quickly if that's any indication. Service was good (and cute!). And the bar had enough patrons to feel pleasant, but not so much you felt overcrowded. It's obviously not a spot for a straight girl to go duck hunting, but plenty of fun for a low-key afternoon of catching up with the WeHo crowd! Additional note - I've knocked .5 stars from the review for the rather confusing happy hour times and separate food deals. Wouldn't it be more efficient to keep everything at the same time?

Voted "Best Burger," by the Phoenix Magazine, January 09 Dining Guide issue, Delux's Delux Burger was far from the best. The burger was nothing more than an under-seasoned and over-cooked beef patty confined in an oversized soggy baguette. The burger is supposed to have been dressed with organic rocket, caramelized onions, applewood-smoked bacon and blue and gruyere cheeses. Should have had a lot of flavor, right? But it didn't. The only identifiable flavor was the sweetness of the caramelized onions. Also, the roasted beet salad was overdressed and soggy. If it wasn't for the texture of the beets I wouldn't have known they were there. The sweet and earthy flavor that I was hoping for was lost due to the overabundance of the salty blue cheese and sweet balsamic vinaigrette. Delux does have a couple things going for them: a pretty cool ambience, an extensive drink menu, and they serve up a refreshingly cold glass of H2o.

The Park appeals to all.  Want to have dinner in a comfortable booth?  sure.  There are several bar areas to mingle at, an upstairs open patio to dance and even a hot tub for those crazy drunkards to jump into and shake their wet groove thang on. I have been frequenting The Park for the following reasons: 1.  No cover!!  There is never any fee to get in and as long as you're of age, you're almost in.. unless.. see #2 2. On the weekends, if you are a guy, you may need a female to accompany you in.  This is to ensure a good male:female ratio. 3. Decent parking area. 4. The music is eh, okay.  It could be better but the female DJ upstairs takes requests.  So, if you want to hear something, just go up to her and politely ask. 5. Decor - I'm not sure if this is an attraction but the decor is a bit weird.  There are stuffed birds behind the back bar on the 1st floor.  While it's not the first thing that comes to mind when decorating a club, its intriguing and I can't stop lookin'... Upstairs is influenced by asian touches, with paper lanterns. One complaint is the lighting and lack of space.  They didn't think about spacial efficiency either.  WIth all the space they have, we are ALWAYS cramped no matter what.  If they moved the couches around, there would be much more dancing space which is why people are upstairs to begin with!!
