by Chris F. on Wow, what a great spot. We came here with our three kids to introduce them to Jazz. We were not expecting a great meal with a fantastic 16 piece orchestral jazz ensemble. We came for the 7pm show. Great Upper West Side spot!!!
by Malcom Pandy on I've never been to the Hong Kong for food, so I can't speak to that (which is maybe a good thing), but for drinks and dancing, I have yet to find a place I enjoy more. Which is not to say the Hong Kong is the best in any category one might judge drinking or dancing establishments. Except for maybe one: quantity of plastic animals in scorpion bowls. If you've been looking for somewhere to get a neon orange miniature giraffe, this is your place. Also, if you've been looking for a place to get sloppy drunk and sloppily dance with a bunch of people who couldn't be bothered to pretend to not be quite as sloppy as they are, this is your place. If you're looking for classy drinks, a DJ who knows his shit, well-dressed 20-something professionals, a velvet rope, or someone who didn't just card you at the door because although you're clearly over 21, he gets so many undergrads that he just has to check, this probably isn't the place for you. I go because the vertically-integrated night life requires no pretension or high expectations, and sometimes all you really want to do is chug a scorpion bowl with a couple of friends and make some bad decisions.
by carolyn c. on My first time here was last night. I got a feel of the club from all my friends who have been before (which wasn't good) but none of them had been on a saturday nite and I wanted highlands to prove them wrong! We didn't get there till nearly twelve. Lucky for us my friends friend was a promoter and we got in free and we didn't have to wait at all. We got in and it was jaaam packed. the music was good when we got in. We stood at the bar for quite awhile to get our drinks (my sex on the beach was strong and nasty) and while waitin the skeevy guys were gropin up on my bestie who told him she was with ME but he decided he was gonna keep feelin her up...PERV...until my friend kindly told him to get the EFF away. After our drinks we headed to the dance floor instanty it was HOT, they need some ventilation up in that place...and there were guys everywhere violating the shit out of us. one of my friends got lost and guys literally attacked like piranhas... so nastay so so nastay. eventually she came back out and she looked disturbed....ew. We danced and drank some more and then the music started turnin whaaack. They played random music i mean I think they played journey! and some random old songs. When the floor becomes empty don't they know they have to bring the hiphop back?!?!??!!? They didn't just dabble with the bad music they left the bad shit on for 60% of the night. Bad music along with the random dudes passing by lingering their hands on your ass and that SAME GUY from the bar in the beginning trying to make a pass at your girls the entire night ( WHY IS THERE ALWAYS THAT ONE CREEPY DUDE THAT STALKS YOUR GROUP THE ENTIRE NIGHT WITHOUT GETTING THE IDEA?!??!?!?! ) = a subpar night. The only reason the night was salvaged was because i was in good company...will possibly return on a friday night because I heard the musics mainly hiphop...but we will seee how desperate we are of a club.
