by anthony S. on If you really like the cast to Jersey Shore and people that enjoy a similar lifestyle, I highly recommend you coming to Avalon. If you dig super cool bartenders who give you super cool looks like they're too cool for you when you order a drink, Avalon beckons your presence. Also, if you dig shitty Top 40 trying to disguise itself as horrible electro, mixed by some generic DJ, by all means come on over. Unfortunately, I am not a fan of any of these, although The Avalon is interesting when random frat bros are rolling their balls off and giving massages to each other as they holler at girls passing by. That is just the cutest thing. Let me tell you. Best thing at Avalon besides the frat bros high on ecstasy? The bathroom greeters. Giving out candy and shit. Giving hugs. Loving life. I've seen Modeselektor, The Crystal Method and Yoji Biomehanika at the Avalon and I have never been impressed with the venue. I've also made it out for Control when they've had it and I've always wanted to leave early.
by Delilah Wickey on I recently worked on an event at Terra and was very impressed with both the venue and the staff. Dusty, Stephanie, Amy, and Jules were all very helpful and accommodating. The event was such that there were some things that needed to happen on the fly or needed coordination very quickly and the staff at Terra were so easy to work with and flexible with all our needs. Our event also required a large amount of bandwidth (internet capability) and getting the specs we needed was easy and seamless thru the venue. The venue worked with our caterer and provided great bar service. In the end - the event was successful, everyone left happy, and we will definitely look to do more things here in the future. The space is beautifully maintained and one of a kind in the city. Don't miss out if you are planning an event in SF.
