Johnny Brenda's is one of my favorite places to see a show. The sound is great and with the standing room near the stage and in the balcony, you can almost always get a good view. The menu pisses me off real bad. It's on a chalkboard near a window and there is constantly a glare on it. You have to dance around the dining room and stand at other people's tables until you're at just the right angle, and then you get to read things like PANINI. C'mon. Panini?! Anything could be on a panini. I don't want to nag my server and make them explain every item on the menu. Once you randomly order a nondescript plate of food, it's usually kind of decent. Their burgers are pretty good, a manageable size and juicy for a small patty. I do always have a great time at Johnny Brenda's. The location makes it a perfect place to start or end your night. The DJs in the downstairs usually play pretty fun stuff, the service is good and the beer list is great.

Nice looking place. The wait is entirely tooooooooooooooo long to bowl on the weekend. Very expensive for bowling but I guess your are paying for decor as well. More of a lounge feel instead of a bowling ally. There is pool also. Overall nice time, but I would not go again if I had to pay. Please Note: There is a strict dress code that is greatly enforced; girls might get through but guys will be turned away without hesitation. Go to website to see what is and is NOT acceptable attire before you go!

First off, i WANT to give this place a better rating, but ...well...i remember coming to Rusty's waaaaaaaaay back in my childhood. My parents and my moms sister's family would get together and come here (tho, NOT sure if it was this location - or if they had another back then). Us kids (my cousins and i) would scarf up the chips and salsa - and eventually burn our tongues to the point we were canvassing the place looking for more soda or ice water to cool the burn. (we were kids - embarrassing the family was normal for us, back then). A couple of weeks ago, i drove by and saw the sign "RUSTY'S" - it was like a flashback scene from "Kung Fu". I immediately called my cousin and told him what i had just driven by. He said he was surprised it was still around. - Which is the point. I'm NOT sure if it's the same place we ate at as kids, or maybe it's owned by different people, or what. =========== Back story aside: Went there after wandering around @ Fry's in Burbank to the point where the wife was threatening a fainting spell if she didn't get some food in her soon. Had the Beef taco/chicken tamale combo. She had the chicken enchilada. Definitely good food - but NOT what i had remembered experiencing as a kid. Spanish rice was a bit dry. Refried beans were a bit on the salty side. Tho, the beef taco was good, as was the tamale. NOT like home-made, but average mexican restaurant food for tourists. By that, i mean not spicy. Some might even say it's kinda bland. It's a matter of personal taste (half my family is Hispanic - we're used to some jalapenos, chilis and spice in our meals). Service was great, though. Didn't hover over us, but you could tell they were keeping an eye out for us, in case we needed anything. They have a full bar and PLENTY of space to fill.
