Since XIV was offering a dineLA menu, how could my best friend and I resist!? The naan bread they give you as a starter would be enough to get me to come back! So yummy. For appetizers, we chose: 1) Wagyu Skirt - EXCELLENT.. I usually stray away from anything that is not cooked well done, but this dish alone would convert me! 2) Sweet Corn Soup - sweet, but not too overpowering and the pork belly melted in your mouth. For entrees, we chose: 1) Jidori Chicken - tons of flavors, but they all pretty much worked together... the eggplant and the mystery "sausage" (best & i couldn't figure out what it was) was intriguing and the hefty portion of garlic jasmine rice was also filling. 2) Tai Snapper - didn't get to taste it, but my best said it was really good. For dessert: 1) dark chocolate cake - the only good part of it was the coconut sorbet... the flaky peanut wafer was too overwhelming... and the "chocolate cake" tasted more like mousse, which I'm not a fan of. 2) nutella ice cream thing - can't remember what was in it, but it was amazing.. so much better than the cake! We also ordered 2 rounds of white grapefruit martinis... I think that's what they were called and they were great, but not worth $13 each.... we could've had another 3 courses for the amount we paid for drinks alone. The ambiance was vibrant for a dimly-lit, library-like set up. It was really loud and not at all intimate. I wouldn't recommend this place for a date, but it was great to people watch with my best friend as we enjoyed a fab meal! We checked out the happenings in the "patio" area and from our experience, I wouldn't vote it to be the most social gathering on Sunset... but it may have been because it wasn't even 11 yet.

second spot we went to last night. typical bar/lounge/club spot. they played a variety of music from west coast gangsta rap to electro remixes and mashups. very roomy place and the crowd was diverse. the venue reminds me of busby's east in west LA.

i'm not the biggest fan, but i continue going there because it's affordable and convenient. there is better pizza out there. some of the waiters are pretty cute though (i'm not just saying that because justin works there, but mostly).
