by Melissa W. on Yet another amazing venture from the owners of John Colins. I have had many a night at Eve, and all experiences have been welcomed. The beauty of this new neighborhood gem is the diversity. First of all, I love how they mix it up - I've seen amazing DJ's, and live jazz. Fashion shows and burlesque. You name it, there is a night for it. The music is always great and they've got all sorts of action every night of the week. Secondly, The crowd varies - Which I also love. But one thing you can count on is that the crowd is pleasant and respectful. There aren't many places you can go these days in SOMA which are considered "night club/lounge" spots that aren't overrun with douches. But this is definitely one of the few spots I can go at anytime and be pleasantly surprised, even when there is a line out the door. And with a cover charge that rarely surpasses $5, it's a great alternative to the larger clubs next door. Last but not least: The bartenders ROCK. With an all ladies staff (which I adore! and is the total counter part to John Colins), the girls are absolutely beautiful, the drinks are strong, and service is amazing. Never have to wait long for a drink because these ladies are FAST. Not to mention, they've got some amazing concoctions on the drink menu. Eve is the type of place where I can pick and choose my battles. Happy Hour specials? Go after work. Ready for a more mellow drink with friends? Go between 7-10pm during the week. Ready to dance your ass off with your girls? Go on Saturday night. That is the beauty. They are kind of a jack of all trades. Needless to say, I am sold. This has become my new nightly neighborhood joint. Almost embarrassed to say that I frequent Eve Lounge as many as 2+ times a week. But when I try to find an alternative, nothing stands a chance.
by Junko Ambrosini on I don't really associate my grandma with sexiness, so it makes sense that this place is pretty much the opposite of sex. It's not fun, there are no girls, and there's no chance of me trying it again. You can use the "it is what it is" excuse, but there are plenty of better dive bars in the area where the regulars won't try to fight you after you beat them in pool. The second star is for the cheap drinks and the novelty - you won't find a more depressing place in the city.
