It's a beautiful aquarium.  But it's surprisingly small and even a year after the grand opening must still strictly limit the number of people who can enter at one time.  Make sure you buy your tickets in advance.  Preferably online because they sell out quickly if you try to buy tickets same-day.  Two or three hour time slots are used to manage how many people enter at one time.  So you must pick the time of day you want to go and I recommend showing up on time for your specific window. On game days at Georgia Dome or Phillips Arena, downtown is packed with people looking for something to do and they flood the aquarium because there are few other attractions within walking distance downtown. Children of course overrun everything here which made me wish they had at least one night a month reserved for adults.  The aquarium would be extremely cool if they had a 21 and up night, charged a little more, offered a cash martini bar and free appetizers catered by a local gourmet restaurant and had tasteful music dj'd by a local celebrity.  They could really be more creative with their scheduling so that adults can have just as much fun as the kids. Good for the aquarium that it has a lot of traffic.  But only two stars because it's simply not designed to handle the number of both tourists and local residents who flock to it at predictable times.  I'm sorry this is a fairly negative review but the planners grossly underestimated its popularity which is a shame.  Simply building it near the Olympic park is one of the first things they've done half-right.  The fish, otters and other aquatic creatures, of course, are wonderful.
