by Ani H. on It's true.. don't bother unless you have the face & body and either good friends or money. Since I don't have the money for the kind of ridiculous lifestyle Avenue espouses, I definitely dress up to come here and only go with my model friends. Then, of course.. you know how it is. All beautiful or rich people inside a very small, beautiful place with high ceilings and a DJ that knows how to take the mood from food and aimless chitchat to heavy dancing for hours on end. The best nights are when everybody in Avenue seems to be feeling good, dancing, and generally going crazy - a mix of house, funk and oldies with lyrics that everybody knows the words gets it right. The worst nights are when the doormen let too many people in. Also, celebrities come here a lot. I've seen Jay Z, Beyonce and Kanye. But.. who really cares, when Avenue is full of gorgeous people every single night. I hate how much I like Avenue.
by Jerrold Kuhlman on After hearing so much about this place from friends (and fellow rateclubsers) it made the list of places for yesterday. Location: Easy to get to, off 75, with plenty of parking. Decor: The white booths and clean lines gave it a very contemporary and modern feel. The high top tables in the middle was where we were seated. Food: App- Vodka battered onion ring, which were very tasty. Entree - Southern Fried Burger, which was a 5.5 oz meat patty, that was deep fried, served with green tomato ketchup, with pimiento cheese. I ordered the side of Sweet Potato tots, which are served with whipped blue cheese spread. Drinks: We enjoyed the Apple Cinnamon martini, served with Apple Vodka, apple juice and rimmed with cinnamon and sugar. The Peach Tea beverage was heavy on the ice and not very flavorful. The final drink was the Krispy Kreme milk shake, which was surprisingly not overly sweet. The menu is a la carte, and portions were small, which I was quite happy with. Our server was knowledgeable and our wait was no more then 10 minutes, granted it was 5pm on a Saturday. Would definitely return back again!
by Amy D. on Restaurant: Food was unoriginal, and a screaming rip-off considering the tiny portions. The anorexic girls in their shiny halter tops next to us didn't seem to notice though. Club: "look at me! look at me!" reminded me of the worst of LA scene. Rudest crowd I have ever experienced in SF. Bad attitudes (shoving on the dance floor, even elbowing). Also got some rascist comments from some semi-drunk/sober a-holes. Wow. now that's class
