by David P. on Hidden among Korean shops and other restaurants on buford Highway, this little authentic Japanese restaurant stands out like a giant.. Visited on an evening date in March. The hostess and the chefs were real Japanese, which is a major plus in the Korean section of Atlanta, or in any city, for that matter. Ordered the second most expensive set menu, which was delivered in good order, with careful attention paid to our pace of conspicuous consumption. By the end of the meal, we were both thoroughly satiated with the best of sea food the south has to offer!. My test of sushi, learned from JJ of Yoo Mae (Colorado Springs: look it up! Best in the world) is to try the salmon roe. Typically they are rather dry or stale.. Only the best sushi chefs serve up good salmon roe.. this place passed the test with flying colors. Tuna was obviously UNfrozen and well textured, while squid was soft in its freshness. Even the tempura was fresh and warm, but not overly hot. The miso soup, tasted of quality miso, rather than the cheap stuff dished out in most sushi places.. Would definitely return my next time in the South!!
by Mandie Lisenby on I went to 1984 night a couple of times within the last month and despite how crowded this place is on Thursday nights, it's a fun place to be. 4 stars for the music alone. A few weeks ago I went to 1984 with my friend Ana to celebrate Marc D's birthday and we were all so plastered from the drinks we had that night. We danced and danced to the music and Ana and I decided to get up on the platform in the back room so we can dance. Uhhh... warning to those who want to dance on the platform: you might want to make a mental note of the size of the platform while you dance so you don't fall off of it like I did that night. Thank goodness for Ana's semi fast reflexes. She caught me before I completely went down. But despite the fumble the music was fantastic that night. Went there again the other night but this time I wasn't so drunk. It was crowded but not as crowded as it was the last time I went. The music still rocked -- I mean how can you go wrong with top hits from the 80s, right? It wasn't hard to get drinks at the bar, the service was pretty fast. It gets crazy hot in there, though so if you go make sure you wear something comfortable for the hot and sweaty atmosphere.
