We stopped in Grace Tavern for a quick bite and drink on a weeknight. We'd heard a lot of good things and they are all true. We also have called ahead and gotten takeout. The beer selection is pretty good, in a "there is something here for everyone" sort of way - but it is definitely catering to the beer aficionado. Prices were very reasonable. The food really stands out. Burgers were excellent, well cooked and very well seasoned and fit in well with the Cajun theme that seems to run though the menu. The sausage sandwiches are very good. I was a little under whelmed with the tuna steak sandwich - the burgers and sausgage are king here. The green beans are good in a greasy, spicy way but some may find them too greasy to palate. The food prices are very, very reasonable - five sandwiches, two apps and a salad barely passed the $60 mark. The atmosphere is OK, sort of dive bar-ish but charming. The staff was very friendly and that helps to dispel the old-man bar vibe. My only complaint was the service was a bit slow, even with just a few people at the bar (we were the only table in the dinning area). Overall - great place to grab a beer and some cheap but delicious eats.

File under "Good for: Nothing." The burger is average, maybe even slightly above average. And the price ain't bad. Still, I swore them off after the staff there dealt me the punk card. Hill-Bert's put coupons in the Daily Texan on Tuesdays. The DT website had the coupons available to print out. Wanting a good burger at an even better deal, I took the printed coupon into the restaurant. I was told by the cashier they would not accept the coupon, and the manager confirmed this decision, saying I could have just as well made copies of the coupons (as if I printed out hundreds of them and was intentionally trying to cheat them out of money every day). That tore it. I walked out and will never return. Promoting your restaurant through coupons and then refusing to accept them is a below average business practice.

We went here for the first time last Wednesday evening for the premier party of the 2nd season of Stan Lee's "Who Wants to be a Superhero?" It was OK. The drinks were ridiculously expensive. But maybe that's typical of the Hollywood scene in that area. One Jd on the rocks, and a well Vodka was $24 ($2 tip). I guess if you have the cash to burn, it's no problem; otherwise you're not going to be able to get a good drink on. Bathrooms were neat and attended by a guy who turns the water on and gives you soap and a towel. Crowded as hell after 11pm.
