It's expensive, the flavors are a bit too weak, seating is limited, and the decor is sterile to the point of cold (as in psychological comfort not as in temperature). But our family keeps coming back! We shouldn't like this place so much, but we do. It's spunky attitude is addictive, the rotation of new flavors tempt you back, the freshness of the ingredients let you rationalize the price, and their fat-free and low-fat offerings assuage all guilt. That synergy overrides my logic centers and I'm compelled to heartily recommend you try it.

Second time going to 111 Minna, once at the DYL and another just on a regular Friday night. It's hard to review a place after a DYL as you are seeing the place filled with rateclubers rather than its regular crowd. Now that I have seen 111 Minna filled with the regular Friday crowd, I am ready to review. Before you go, it's good to know that the space has two large rooms with two bars. The first room, which is through the doors on Montgomery, is filled with the slick crowd. The bar is rather crowded, and the room is very crowded. The room in the back, which you can enter more easily through 111 Minna, is more laid back. It's faster to order a drink from there. I also enjoy the spaciousness of the 111 Minna entrance room with the low-key folks. The music is thuddingly loud which I want on a Friday night after work. If you want a bar to talk with a friend, this isn't the best option. But if you are there to chill, to shout with a friend on occasion, this is a great option. So, here's how to use Minna: if you are slick and dressed up, stay in the room outlooking Montgomery. If you want to chill on one of their leather benches to loud music, go through the Minna entrance.
