by Joshua H. on I went here over the weekend and was pretty impressed by what they had to offer. They have an awesome lighting and sound system and good music on all 4 levels. There's a variety of music that's rare to see anywhere. They had your typical top 40, house/techno where the lights/amazing sound system are, a vocalist singing over electro int he basement and hip hop on the first floor. I was really impressed with the staff - a friend of mine who spilled a drink and it was taken care of in under a minute and they replaced his drink for free. This was definitely an good time and I will return again.

Coat check is mandatory and costs $2, it takes at least a 10-minute wait to get your coat back, the place is uncomfortably packed and dark, and it just isn't fun. Upstairs, the atmosphere is a bit better. It's a much more theater district-y crowd, older and more convivial rather than shitfaced. There are indeed 24 different flavors you can get in your mojito, but PEOPLE, THESE ARE NOT GOOD MOJITOS. You want a good mojito, go to Yuca Bar or Samba-le in the East Village, or even any of the Dos Caminos joints. The mojitos here are like, McDonald's caliber. So is the guacamole. The giant iguana sculpture hanging over the bar adds a bit of panache, but sadly, nowhere near enough.
