by sarah d. on I went here on a Saturday night with some friends who got a table. The regular line was over 100 people deep and I'm not sure it would have been worth the wait. Every song they played was a techno version of something else... Which is cool if you wanna fist pump in your Ed Hardy tee all night, but I prefer to shake my ass. The "VIP tables" are merely love seats crowded onto the dance floor where nothing separates you from the sloppy drink-spilling common folk that fill this place. Basically, there is nothing "VIP" about these tables, and for the price of bottle service I really expect a lot more... (Good thing i didn't pay...) Aside from the poor placement of the "VIP section" in the middle of the dance floor, the venue itself isn't terrible... It's decorated nicely and has potential... but unless someone can promise me a scene that's a little less Jersey Shore next time... I probably wouldn't go back...
by Marianna Hatto on I've only been to Arena for fashion shows, so I am not reviewing this venue in terms of how it stands as a night club. I came here last fall for Seventeen Magazine's runway show. It was a great time. Natasha Bedingfield (love her) was there, along with Neyo. I came here last week, as well, for the Jordie Scott collection. The shows held at Arena are a lot more entertaining than the pretentious ones at Bryant Park. I imagine it serves as a fun place to party. I'm not sure if I would ever come here solely to hang out. Not my type of space.
