In all fairness, I am no longer the hard-drinking, 21-year-old party girl I once was, ermm, 2 years ago. . . plus my visit to Tongue and Groove was during my first visit to Atlanta, an otherwise fabulous city. What can you say about a club where you feel like your drink might be roofied at any moment and sketchy men purporting to be Russians get a little too close for comfort for both you and your purse? A club where while you're waiting for your friends outside, you witness a wasted 21-year-old man slam into a young woman, knocking her down on hard concrete with a jarring thud. And then see some bouncers and cops tackle down the young gentleman with four of them holding his flailing self down. And where the dress code seems to be fake labels in the skanky'est (for the ladies) and douchey'est (for the gentlemen) way possible. It might be some people's scene. All I will say is that I needed a long shower to get this place out of my system, but figuratively and in terms of the bacteria I am sure was floating around the place. We went to some amazing places in Atlanta, and this would not be one of them. It's only saving grace is the music on the night we went (Saturday) was fun. Otherwise, I don't really know what would possess anyone to pass on the wonderful places Atlanta has to offer to come here.

I think we set a record for the earliest anyone has left the South Bay to go clubbing in the city. Seriously, we left home at 8:30! I was actually quite proud. Good mobilization, guys. But we just BARELY made it in Roe by 10:30 to avoid paying a $20 cover, even though we had been standing outside since 9:30. And the club was pretty empty when we got in. Now that's just sheisty.

Five Star atmosphere with Five Star prices that only serves Three Star food. I have ordered food from both upstairs and downstairs and every time it does not live up to the price tag. I am not saying the food is bad, however you can get WAY better else where for less. Now that I got that out of the way, World Cafe Live's atmosphere makes up greatly for the overpriced menu. Upstairs is small and cozy. You can see different artist perform on the small, back corner stage as you sit out their very impressive bar or at a table that is no more than 20 yards from the stage. For bigger shows you go downstairs, where there is an equally impressive bar. For most shows there is a menu and very limited seating, unless you got reserved sitting in the balcony. We always try to get there early in order to get a table in front of the bar. The shows are always great, my favorite being Jaxons Local Shots featuring IKE. Always a good lineup of bands and the room definitely sounds good. I highly recommend this place for a chill night. If you aren't in the mood for a club but need more than a bar, WCL is the place for you.
