My first thoughts upon entering were this place is hecka small for a dance club!  It's more a lounge with a small dance floor, but good times were had none the less! It's a trendy spot, translation for hot youngsters and tourists. DJ was good but no vibe. I just wasn't feeling the energy on the dance floor, like I have at other spots.  Maybe because it was Friday night and 95% female up in there, but all-in-all a cool spot with upstairs area to people watch, comfy couches to sit and look pretty, nice bathrooms, rad bartenders, nice bouncers, and a smoke room.  Word.

The Silk City Diner is a spot I visited years and years ago and enjoyed because of the chocolaty deliciousness of their milkshakes. I remember it as a standard diner - nothing out of the ordinary. I was disappointed to hear reports of it's closure. I was gladdened by it's reopening. I needed to see if the place was any different. The change in decor is minimal; the change in menu is drastic. The interior of the diner looks the same to me. This is an awesome thing. It's like walking back into the 50s. (As far as I know. I have never actually been to the 50s.) The  booths are spacious with zany designs on the table tops. The staff is super friendly and fast both taking the order and serving the food. (Also, they are super hot. That might only matter to the pervs out there. Oh. And me.) You won't find a dense menu filled with traditional diner fare here. They have just a few items. Stuff like portobello burgers, seared tuna sandwiches with wasabi mayo and appetizers like edamame and blackened fish tacos.  The  edamame is  delicious . It comes with a dipping sauce that was a bit too spicy for my tastes. For my meal I skipped the fancy items and went with a more traditional burger. Their burger simply with cheese is one of the best I ever had. Dinner was followed up by warm brownie with a dollop of ice cream topped with a bit of rasberry and vanilla glazes. Amazingly good. I ate inside, but I peered through the gate outside into the beer garden and that looks great as well. A full bar and plenty of space to spread out. Next time I will try eating out there. I think this place has something for everyone. Foodies will love all the fancy stuff on the menu (and they all sound delightful.), there's the standard burger if you aren't feeling adventurous, there's the decor for the nostalgia minded, the awesome desserts for the sweet tooth, the beer garden for the alcoholics, and of course, the pervs. If you can't enjoy a place with so much to offer I think you are just too picky.

Note to self: Never drink on an empty stomach, especially after losing blood that day. I freaked out at least one waitress when I fainted but I hoped I amused a bartender who got me ice cubes after I woke up. My friends looked on embarrassingly as I pointed at said bartender and repeatedly exclaimed, "He's the bartender" in what is probably a loud drunken hysterical voice. Great place to chill, to catch up with friends, eat and drink. Definitely recommend the sweet potato fries and fried chicken. My friends' $10 entree + cocktail looked decent. Will need to come back for their other drinks and food. But at least I know the wait staff won't let me die the next time I pass out. I'm such a weak drinker.
