by K D. on I've come to a realization that maybe 4 or 5 venues in SF are real clubs. The rest are just makeshift restaurant/bars. I've been to Atmopshere before when it was Latitudes but man things haven't changed at all. It's still hot as hell. Bottle service is pretty much serve yourself and the hold up of the line was even worse than most clubs in Hollywood. Instead of having AC.. they put those square fans you buy at Walmart and propped them at the top of the ceiling. Yes, very classy. They have a large rectangular platform propped against the back of the wall where drunk ass hoodrats can get up there and shake their ass. That platform didn't look sturdy at all.. all taped up with electrical tape... it was an accident waiting to happen. Promoters were Asian but it was pretty mixed actually. Black, Latino, White, Asian, you got everyone. They barricade a small section of the front of the club for a "smoking patio." They need to make that shit bigger. Parking is atrocious as others have said, so get there early.
by Tom Y. on Ah, I am always really conflicted with this place. There's always something good and then something bad that happens here. Lets go with the latest time I was here. Arrived at about 9:45 (same group of ppl as Kathy D.) That's the earliest I've ever been there, but it's also the first time I got in for free! Other trips, I've just been waiting and waiting...and waiting, until guestlist ends. We get in and no one is there yet. No problem! Easier to get drinks. Music has always pretty been pretty good here and you can find some space to get your dance on. The venue itself is pretty clean and its got a cool, chill vibe goin'. As fun as the night was, it ended really early because of a flood? Dance floor was a giant puddle and we got out of their quick!
by Pasty Gravlin on The crazy part about this place is it has literally been around for ages. I remember my mom taking me to this place when I was about six or seven. I would be the pudgy boy sitting in the corner eating enchiladas while my mom was at the bar boozing it up with old cubans...but that's between me and my therapist... One crazy long night in Silverlake (see Medusa and AAA Review) I ended up walking over to The Mexican Village. Step to the place, and I don't remember a damn thing looking familiar. Then again, it's been about 15+ years, and my ass continually forgets where I park. Different age groups, mostly latin but different music, and a small ass dance floor made for an intresting night, and I tend to like being the center of attention... So to the point, booze weren't great, werern't watered down, it was just cool. Older folks, dancing some salsa that I could not duplicate in my life, but it was cool. The lady getting a lap dance for her birthday was super cool... Her crew asking me to give her a lap dance for her birthday was....not cool......I was still sober.......and I'm not a good dancer :( .....but was still cool.
