I seriously love this place. Everything in there is cute. There are a lot of little asian bakeries and boba cafes in California, but I have yet to see something like this back home. It just seems so cozy and the owners really paid attention to the details. The only thing I could complain about is that a lot of the baked goods were no longer out since we got there later in the day, but then again thats understandable. I definitely want to go back soon. It seems like the perfect spot to study or surf the net on a lazy day! The drinks and cakes are delicious, but the consistency of the boba...not so great.

I've been wanting to check out Sugar Cafe for awhile. For some reason the exterior intimidated me with its slick tinted windows and purple hue...I guess it's that high school complex of feeling like the uncool kid, curious about things stylish. The recent phenomenon of Susan Boyle gave me courage to not judge a book by its cover...not to equate hipness as being unfriendly. Glad I got over that and ventured in. This place is slick - that modern retro I love. Cozy gas fireplace with comfy couches; many parked with laptops. I went during the evening when they offer tasty bar bites - I had the Polenta with Mushroom Ragu and Green Salad. It was light + delicious. My friend had the Whole Wheat Pizza with Grilled Chicken, Onions + Grapes (see photo). I would never have thought to put grapes on a pizza, but it gave it a nice, slightly sweet touch; better than pineapples. The vibe is friendly.

Maybe it's just me, but I really liked this place. The venue is beautiful and while I've only gone to a few of their private parties here, I've always had a blast. The staff is always friendly, drinks well poured and the food is deelish. Plus you really can't beat the location and the view on the enclosed patio area is purdy damn cool. I'd go here anytime.
