The coolest part about this place is that you are drinking on a boat. That means that you will be bobbing up and down or you might get sick from watching the smaller boat go up and down. The food is okay, though their system is a bit disorganized. You have to order at the bar, get a ticket, then go back to the kitchen area to pick it up. It can take a while and the orders do not come out in numerical order. The drinks are pretty weak. The white wine sangria is okay, but again, very diluted. It's a yuppie crowd, but if you bring your own friends, it should be fun. Since you are on a boat, bathrooms are far from nice. Go down below deck, into a flimsy wooden shack bathroom. One toilet, one urinal, one sink. Also, this is a retro-fit bathroom, so while you're peeing, you're next to a generator or some other machine that sounds like it's about to blow up. Kind of a pain to get to.

I've never had a bad experience at Ecco, and yesterday confirmed why I love the place so much. My parents were visiting from Wilmington, NC, and we were trying to find a place to eat at 4:00 PM on a Sunday as we had just left the Fox Theatre after seeing the Jersey Boys matinee. This is harder than it sounds - most places are closed or don't open until 5:00 PM on Sundays. The bar opens at 4:00 PM on Sunday, but the kitchen doesn't start until 5:30 PM. No worries. Eric, bartender extraordinaire, whipped us up some great drinks while we waited. They were able to make us a meat and cheese platter before the kitchen opened, and with some olives and great crusty bread, we had the makings of a memorable meal. Ecco is simply a great neighborhood restaurant. My husband and I have eaten there numerous times, and everything on the menu we've sampled has been excellent. Enjoy!

Once upon a time I was in dinner theater. Yes yes....I know. WTF? jay h.? Dinner Theater? WTF!?!?!? Yup...for about two months. It was called Tony & Tina's Wedding. It was a blast. We would do our show, shoot the shit with the bouncers at Ruby Skye, go get drunk, and then go home. I had completely forgot about it until last night.... Last night I was DAH-RUNK!!! I ended up going on a party rampage with some chick I met and a friend of mine. (funny how shit like that happens...you meet a group of folks and have drunken adventures all over the city). ANYWHO....we went to Slide. I drunkenly found myself walking down some stairs (too drunk to see the slide right in front of my nose). Small place but nonetheless hip, dark and cool. The people were pretty and the music was dope. So on our way out we walked past Ruby Skye and shot the shit with some bouncers......and then I got bitch slapped by some serious drunken deja vu. "WAIT!!! Holy SHIT!! That was the Cable Car Theater!!! I used to perform there!!" They get some crazy props for transforming that space. That theater was janky and old. They completely gutted and remodeled it. They did such a good job I didn't even recognize it....and I had spent every weekend there for two months straight.
