Had my wifes birthday here. The waiter was great and never missed a beat taking care of us (22). The food was good, the music and dancing after hours is great. Get good food, good music and good drinks at one stop. A nice place to go to spend the entire evening/night.

A real rock'n'roll bar for real rock'n'rollers. Enough said.

NOTE: This review is purely based on a mash-up party last night at The Vault, not actually Element. So of course, with any club, depending on the given night the crowd could be horrid. But, more often than not in the LES, the crowd, even with any gentrification or imports, it's still a great time and not nearly as obnoxious. One of the directors over in our LA offices is a DJ as well, DJ Axel, he spins mashups. You can purchase at Other Music. If you want. Anywho, he decided that while he's in New York for work he'd do a couple sets last night for this Bootie party, which is strictly mashups, with a couple of other West Coast DJs who he's spun with before. the Vault is a great place; there's lots of pros, and the only real con would of course be the ridiculous beverage prices; I really hate paying 7 dollars for a bottle of beer. The 50 dollar credit card minimum is probably the highest I've seen so far (I think Manahatta is also 50); most upscale places don't go beyond 40. A bottle of water and a small cup of diet soda costs 8. I'm not sure where they get their figures. The bartenders were very quick though and friendly. Definitely a plus; credit cards the gratuity is included, but I shelled out a couple extra bucks anyway. Now the place; it's basically when you go downstairs (the entrance is around the corner from Element's entrance, right next to the Essex Ale House), you go to the cashier for any entrance fee, and right there are the bathrooms. The weirdest bathrooms ever. It's just open, 4 unisex stalls, 2 in one room and 2 in the other. But, the sinks which face each other don't have a mirror up, you can just see the other room. You can literally touch the person in front of you at the opposite sink through the little leaf decorations. So you go past the bathrooms and the cashier/door person, and there's a long hallway with recesses; on your right is the bar area with a small dance space and a huge out of focus tv in the wall (they were playing Showgirls). A couple comfy seats on the way right. to the left of the bar dance area, is a cushioned bench basically. Go back out into the hallway and face the dance floor, which is directly ahead. As you walk, to your right you'll see different small alcoves that can be reserved but many are just open for anyone. Lots of lap dancing here basically (I gave one to a girl I met through the DJ, it was hilarious). Keep going straight and you'll hit the dance floor, which is kind of like a really stout, wide, fat L shape. The coolest thing is though, as with the bathroom, from the bar you can see all the way to the dance floor, because these alcoves don't have full walls, just the benches/couches. the place by 11:40 was really hopping, but there was SPACE. So you can do your own thing. Which is AWESOME. Axel's friends put me up to dancing, and I of course cut like 8 rugs, and I wasn't even drunk (which I usually need to be of course to start it up). We got crazy during Axel's set; the great thing about this place, like most great clubs, is no matter your dancing skill level, people just wig out and have fun. Great vibes here on this mashup night. The women were attractive and fun, the dudes didn't smell that bad (you usually get a couple of brosephs who don't know their own BO, or just sleeveless shirt dudes). The music was LOUD, so don't expect to talk much unless you're screaming and spitting.
