**Disclaimer** This review is for a specific night long ago: Dec. 23, 2005. You may ask why I'm I doing a review for a specific night that was nearly 5 years ago. My friend, Ingrid R, posted a recent review of this place and I was immediately 'transported' back to a very memorable and fun night here and felt the urge to rateclubs about it. I celebrated my birthday shindig here and invited family and friends who also invited a few of their friends. We drank and danced throughout the night. They all got nice and toasty. I got a tad bit s***faced at the end of the night (but that's beside the point). The highlight of this particular night was the totally random introduction between me and this guy that one of my friend's had brought. I said hi. He said hi and happy birthday. We danced for a bit and the rest you can say is history. I'm still in disbelief at how random it was to have met him here and how lucky I am to have found such an amazing boyfriend. No matter the current rating for Vanguard, I'd give this place an infinite number of stars for being the place to meet THE ONE ;) And yes, I'm ok with the technical fact that I met my boyfriend at a club! LOL.

My review is completely based on the music this past Sat night... Since this is the newest club in the Meatpacking District, I expected this place to be the hottest spot to go dancing. I was so disappointed. If my friends didn't get a table, I would have suggested to leave much earlier. It was so painful to listen to music that jumped around... nothing was consistent.... from '80s to Frank Sinatra to classic rock. It was hysterical to watch the go-go dancers... because they looked like they didn't even know how to dance to the crap the DJ was playing. It's really too bad, because I did think the decor with the huge multiple chandelier and gold gothic wall coverings was cool. And the door guys were great, especially Jeff. I prefer to dance to techno / house; hip-hop is not favorite, but I would have rather danced to hip-hop then the garbage we were forced to listen to that night. The music was so much better when it was PM.
