by Oleg H. on I've been hearing Renee talk about the insanity which is smash up derby. We showed up, got some pizza at bowsers while one of the singers rocked out to herself ina booth. Fast forward 25 mins - sure enough smash up derby rocked it - live mash ups - its one of those things that you just need to see for yourself - everyone should see them live :) Written or even spoken form is not sufficient to describe the effect of Nirvana and Micheal Jackson songs being played live at the same time.
by Mitchell Streich on The drink prices are fair. The bartenders aren't even close to being dicks. They're friendly with a strong pour. And maybe they'll even smoke some tree with you. A bit small and no jukebox. Music controlled beyond the bar. Those are the only downsides. Nice and dark and not too hip. I'd definitely go back. I'm surprised it took me so long to come.
by Theresa M. on When you walk into Medjool the foyer is sufficiently awkward. There's a large open space right in front that you must pass through, and then there's a medium sized bar on you right. There are random seats and people dancing sporadically downstairs to questionable music and disco colored lights. Head straight upstairs! This part is awkward too. You pass through a dingy hallway, take a slow elevator up to the roof, and you may even see some people staying at the hostel/hotel that is in the building, Thank goodness for the sky terrace. The terrace is nice, great views, plenty of seats and a bar in the back.. A few notes about the sky terrace: Medjool could put a little more effort into the rooftop decor and they need to invest in more than one bathroom for the ladies (1 stall that's it!). Do yourself a huge favor and only go here if you are planning on going to the sky terrace for the beautiful city views. *Medjool may have earned a third star if they didn't charge a $10 cover (even for girls!).
