I've read a couple of bad reviews of Pod and I can't understand why. I went for an early dinner on a Sunday during University City's restaurant week. It wasn't crowded at all, and we were seated soon after we arrived. The decor can be described as retro-futuristic resembling modern design as if imagined by an artist during the 1960s. My date and I were seated by the far back wall at a table that was a little too low; my date complained that she couldn't cross her legs. Other than that, Pod is very open and visually appealing. The bathrooms are exit replicas of those found on airplanes or tour buses, albeit a little larger. Pod's cuisine is the all-too-popular "Asian Fusion" found in most large American cities today and unfortunately it doesn't impress at times. For starters, we had the underwhelming Penn Roll and the very delicious Pork Dumplings. The main courses consisted of the Sea Bass for myself and the Lamb Chops for my date. The Sea Bass was absolutely amazing although the glaze proved to be a bit too sweet towards the end. The Chops were good but didn't impress like the Sea Bass. For dessert, we had this butterscotch crumb cake which was ok. Our drinks were pretty good however, with me having a sake mojito and a japanese stout and my date having a drink with whiskey and fresh raspberries. Pod is definitely a place that has to be tried as it provides a unique atmoshere, interesting drinks and food that's sure to impress novice foodies.

I've got to give this place one star -- I couldn't even get inside! I went on a Saturday night, and apparently they open at 12. We got there about 12:30 and there were roughly 15 people in line. No big, right? Wrong. My friend and I waited outside for 45 minutes -- we saw group after group come up and get right in after calling over to the bouncer, but I didn't see a single person who was waiting in line ever get in. If the line moves, and I'm just stuck outside behind it, then fine. But NOBODY (not girls, not guys, nobody) from the line ever got inside while I was there. IMO, that sucks.

Check it! I went here for a Bacardi Event and let's just say.....FLY layout! The inside really do look like a Opera House setting...I don't know the history of the Opera Club but I have heard it use to be a old Opera House. This place would be hottt to rent for a reception for a huge event. You can add so many ideas to the place. The indoor/Outdoor rooms are cool. I may have to head back!
