by Isaac P. on I was visiting from out of town and my Austin friends recommended this restaurant as a laid-back, relaxed and chill place to eat dinner (a jeans and t-shirt kinda place mixed with college kids, young professionals and hipsters). I was excited to go as they had high praises of the food and drinks. I get there and place my order (the chicken meal that was on special, along with a salad and a Sierra Nevada on draft to wash it down). There were 8 of us in the group. First of all, I never received my salad - even though everyone else received their appetizer. So when the entrees came out, I asked that the waitress just cancel the order. Second, the water being served was out of glass bottles (charming, yes - but also VERY luke warm). And third - the air-conditioner was apparently broken or not working properly. Needless to say, the flames from the open kitchen made for one very hot and humid dinner. And when I asked the waitress what was going on with the air-conditioner, she snapped back that she realized it was hot and that she had already tried turning it down. The food, I would give a 3 out of 5 stars. The service? A big, fat 1. Sorry, but I suggest moving on to another restaurant. Either that - or make sure that the air-conditioner is working...on a Friday night...in May.
by Corrine Hetu on After seeing this place on TV and hearing some locals rave about it, I had to check it out. Went for the brisket sandwich and wasn't as excited about it as I had expected. Was also not a fan of the oddly sweet BBQ sauce. Cheers to the service but surely there must be better spots in this BBQ state.
