Sullivan Room is great! i love the more cozy atmosphere when compared to larger places like Pacha. The DJ's are great and the cover is never more than $20. I have found that this place doesn't get good until after 1a. The bouncer even told us at midnight once to just go somewhere else and come back later. We came back around 2a and it was packed! Drinks are normal ny prices (overpriced) so I usually drink somewhere else beforehand.

Overall, the grandness of Tao is impressive. I was thinking they must pay a lot of rent as I gazed across the massive space. Went here for my third and final restaurant week dining experience (Ok maybe I will go to one or two more, you never know.) I came in expecting small portions and generic food. What I received were generous portions of high quality food, presented in a creative way. To top it off, service was attentive. I started with steamed vegetable dumplings. The dumplings were light and flavorful. Entree was salmon served with udon noodles. It was presented on a raised dish. The ginger seasoning was just right and unlike many times I have Asian inspired salmon, it wasn't too salty. For dessert, I had a simple scoop of sorbet, not even sure what flavor it was. I enjoyed the fresh berries, lychee, and black sesame seeds that accompanied the sorbet. All-in-all, I would go back, especially if given the opportunity to do a business dinner at the long table in the upper level, which, unfortunately for Tao, most likely won't be happening any time in the near future for me.

Great venue for some intimate rock concerts. My first experience there was to see Gina Gershon rocking out on tour to promote her recent wrap of her film Prey for Rock and Roll. Despite my terrible experience outside while waiting in line (a tranny in some Kiss leather/vinyl outfit somehow got spit in my eye during some tirade to his/her buddy next to me - which psychosomatically caused me to have "itchy-tranny-spit-eye" all night) the show inside was pretty good. Similar to the Fillmore I'd say but I've only been to a few concerts there as well (Beck, like 15 years ago, Radio 1, Libertines, etc).
