by Merlin Lint on Rosa Mexicano... I don't know where to begin. One of my good friends told me about the one in New York and said there are some differences. My favorite is the chips and avocado salsa (Guacamole en Molcajete) they make right at the table. As for the entrees, I guess I had hoped for a little more pop. I mean, don't get me wrong, it was good, but just not exceptional. I've been back several times though, and the chips and dip can be credited for that. I even got an order to go once. The sad thing is..as of late I think I've had my fill of the guacamole, so I haven't been back recently. The entrees I've had include the tacos al asador with carne. I don't really eat all of the shells. Sad to say sometimes I just eat the meat and cheese in the cute little skillet with the cabbage salad on the side of my plate. So sometimes I have an internal battle with the price I am paying for my meat salad. As side items go, I really like the beans, but the sweet potato fries are not one I'd get again. I've tried the "flight of tequila" just because I couldn't believe there was such a thing. I am glad I had my friends with me! That's some strong stuff, but really, I was able to taste the differences between the three the waiter recommended. Not quite sure we are going to see a mass swap of wine tasting events for tequila tasting, but none the less a good hook along with the chips to keep people coming back. Words of advice - Make reservations if you are trying to eat dinner. On the weekends they seem to keep long wait times.
