by Amanda H. on The venue was beautiful from what I could tell. I liked that the bouncers were dressed in tuxedos. They played music that was good to dance to most of the night. However, This is where we ended up going to after we saw that Sutra Lounge was kinda smaller and about the same amount of people were trying to get in. We already paid $15 to park right next to the clubs so we didn't have to walk too far. It cost us $20 to get in (which is stupid for females to pay IMO) but we did get there past 11:30pm. We got a picture from a photographer at the door right when we walked in. Drinks are about $8 and up. Once people started dancing, aside from two hired dancers, the floor was crazy and you couldn't hardly move. Once we did have a spot to move there were A LOT of insistent guys constantly dancing behind us. Not the slightest bit attractive or suave. YUCK. We often just danced near the bar to have room and not have to stop and move people along. There are also these big smoke/water/I have no clue things that spray people on the dance floor. I dunno, after being sweaty, tipsy, and dancing our butts off it was less "eww" and more like "AHHH". I would have preferred that we had gotten into the VIP balcony that overlooks the main dance floor early so we had more space to dance. We did finally get up there from some guy who had bracelets. I liked it much better up there, but we didn't really care to hang out with them the rest of the night either. We did make sure to get our $35+ worth of dancing in. After all, it was our girls night out. Would we go again? Only if we get in free and have the VIP.
by Estelle Kilver on There's no "if you're in Jackson Heights" premise to my review. This bar is worth trooping to regardless! Although I'm not sure what the bar looks like on an average night, I recently attended an event for a local Colombian artist who exhibited some of his life's art here. A night of drinks and art can't be beat. I believe the bar has an objective to showcase local artists be it music or drawings or whatever. I think thats a huge plus in this city. The bar is super funky with two levels and a projection monitor showing films or in last night's case, this artist's life work. Come for a coffee, a tea, or a drink. I highly recommend this bar and can't wait to return. Fantastic friendly vibes from all around. don't be surprised if you find yourself walk in alone and line dancing out the door singing We are the champions. ****4 stars for great atmoshere, interesting art showcases and good drinks. I'll be back soon to upgrade this puppy.
by Lindsay M. on I went to Lava this Saturday night, and had a pretty good time. It was PACKED- and the music was going all night. The music was ok- typical of a dance club, and the majority of people were bobbing right along with the music. There are lots of different levels, and it is attached to Cosmo- somewhat confusing since this is basically the same place. Four different bars where you can grab a quick drink- and generally quick bar tenders. I liked the different bars and the different DJs to get more variety in one club. There is also an outdoor deck so you can grab some breathing room from the mass amounts of people in close to the bars and dancing. A fun place to go with your friends and just let go for the night dancing and having a good time. Not the best atmosphere I have seen here in Atlanta- but it is sure to provide a good time.
