by allison r. on I've been holding D-Bar in my bookmarks for over a year; after visiting once, I was waiting on a review until I'd returned. Meh. I went for a delightful double date one blistery October night. My date and I met our best gays for dinner. We played it safe and shared an appetizer of calamari and had some beers, while seriously envying the gays' choice to snag burgers. Food, drink, service, and ambiance was all fine. I hear it can get a bit rowdy at the bar. The gays since broke it off, and mine is in Somerville, so I doubt I'll make it back to Dorechesta.
by Wilmer Guinnip on I came here on a Thursday night. They were playing very loud standard bar music, but I guess that's what you should expect in Old City. I wanted to order some food from the bar and a drink for myself and my girlfriend. I waited 30 minutes at the bar while the bartender chatted with other customers. It wasn't even that busy. Maybe I just had the wrong look, but after 30 full minutes of standing there awkwardly we had enough and left. Maybe I'll try again in the future.
by Ellen Sue C. on I have been to Boulevard 3 wayyyy too many times to count. What keeps me coming back? The venue itself. This is the most spacious and beautiful club I've ever been to in Hollywood. Not to mention that you usually can find a place to sit by the fire pit or the pounds outside without having to drop some money for a table. The security also doesn't freak out if you hang out for a few minutes at an empty "reserved" area. You can walk around, dance, sit, lounge, or attempt to bother the DJ by the door behind the stage. I've never had any problems coming with guy friends as well, everyone seems to be able to get in as long as you're on the list or have a golden ticket in hand. I've been to the Halloween event here, multiple "celebrity" parties, and just usual Friday/Saturday nights. Anything great? Nah...the drinks are pricey for the size, music is generally okay, no long bathroom lines and you get a handful (and no more) of attractive party-goers. It's okay...but I keep coming back for some reason.
