All I have to say is this: You have the most amazing view of the city AND the most amazing view of the water AND you feel like you are on the most beautiful yacht... What more could you possibly need out of life besides a good cocktail? Oh, wait! They have those too! It is the absolute most beautiful room in NYC and since I've seen 'em all, yes, I have the right to say that... However, if you go, which you should, bring along some good, fun friends. The crowd is kind of douchy. Not douchy in the Jersey sense of the word (Those douches would never get in.) Douchy like everyone thinks they are too cool to have fun. And I have news for those people... You can never be too cool to have a good time, so crack a smile people, it won't kill you. Bottom line: The room is amazing, the music suffices, the people who work there are pretty to look at... Just bring along some fun friends and it will be a good night.

I do like Temple! Big club with different rooms. I always love that! But, it can get COLD inside the club on the main floor because the front doors are wide open and blowing gusts of cold SF wind right at you (which may be great when you're sweating bullets, but for us girls who love to dress in short skirts, it's awful...leg hair grows back in a matter of seconds)! Now that I've officially turned off a shitload of guys, how about we all complain that they build some sort of barrier against the wind? Thanks! Will go back but definitely gonna wear jeans or tights!

Wow, I was very astonished by reading the reviews of this place. Obviously there are a wide array of feelings on the Mayan. I really think it has to do with the fact that there are so many different types of nights here. The clubbing nights, the salsa nights, the concert nights, etc. I happened to go here last Wednesday on a "concert night" to see the Black Kids. As far as a concert venue goes, this one is hands down one of the best in LA. The acoustics were great, you always had a way to escape the crowd and noise, it was easy to get a drink, and it was easy to get really close to the stage. Sure the Mayan is in a little bit of a shady part of downtown but that adds to the mystique! Parking is super easy and surprisingly cheap. Personally I would take the Mayan over the Wiltern any day without question.
