by Kala Olivencia on Again, we are faced with the age old question: Ambiance or Quality? If an awesome space, vibe and environment is what gets you jazzed then this place will score well. However, if you're looking for consistency and flavorful blow your mind food it likely will leave you disappointed. The space is great. The downstairs bar has an artful feel that has the right level of lighting to make it refined, welcoming and quaint. For dinner you will head upstairs and this too is a great space. They have the capability to accommodate fairly sizable parties (we had around 10+ people). The food is hit or miss. For the most part from talking to my neighbors the big surprise was our need to add salt. Perhaps it was just an off night in the kitchen and consistency wasn't the strong suit. My scallops were delightful and definitely the star winner in my book for the night. The brussel sprouts I ordered were average and again needing more seasoning/salt. I did share the pork skewers with a friend as an app and it too was decent. However, after tasting her main course, the gnocchi, it left one just a wee bit disappointed. Overall, I recommend this place as a sit at the bar and have a glass of wine and share a few appetizer location. I wasn't blown away by the food and know of plenty of other Atlanta restaurants that would be more satisfying when it comes to the main entrees. I want to like them, so hopefully a second visit will show improvement and greater consistency.
by bryan m. on I think the my fellow rateclubsers are being quite generous with their reviews for The Latest Dish. I have been here for food and drinks on several occassions and the experiences have ranged from OK to bad. The food is decent, I actually cannot say I ever got anything that was bad, but on the other hand I never got anything that was really that great or memorable. The menu is very approachable, with the usual suspects and proteins/flavors that can appeal to just about anyone. This can make for a boring dining experience, but when choosing a restaurant for a group its a safe bet. The cocktails are weak and small which loses big points in my book, but I do believe they have an extensive beer list. I personally do not drink beer so this does not benefit me. The service has usually been the biggest deal breaker on most occassions. Servers are usually slow and unattentive, and the bartender on a few occassions has been outright rude. Overall if you are going to dinner with a fussy eater or the family, The Latest Dish might be an OK idea because it is basic food that is appealling to the masses. But dont expect a life changing dining experience, actually don't expect much at all....
by Anthony K. on I love this night at the Cherry Bar, it is moving to the Rickshaw Stop (for their anniversary night)! Great plethora of mashed up mixes that gets everyone shaking :)!
