by Mikiko H. on No idea why this place has such crap reviews. For one thing, the drinks are not overpriced. If you've ever sat at the bar and seen the amount of alcohol, time, and preparation go into the cocktails, you would not say that. Plus, they are DELICIOUS. Want a watered down $5 vodka and tonic? You'll probably want to look elsewhere. Too hipster-y? Well, if you have a problem with "hipsters" you might want to consider moving to a different city. I would go to the ESSR for the atmosphere alone. Heck, if they'd let me I'd move my bed in and live there.
by Gabrielle Linnemann on This is seriously the BEST burger I have ever had (The Delux Burger, cooked medium). Sweet potato fries are great as well. Open late every night. Also do takeout.
by Dan M. on How very disappointing. This could be a great club, a destination even, but the attitude of their staff takes all of the work put into it, and flushes it down the toilet. I've been here twice, and both times, there should have been no way to screw up a good time (1st, a pornstar's birthday, 2nd white chocolate syrup wrestling) but yet the staff manages to do the impossible, and mess things up. Especially horrible, the hostess, a tall nubian beauty, who has all the charm of a black widow spider. She will tell you things like "Oh, the main area is closed to people like you" or "Oh, let me go ask my manager about that...(turns around)...Sorry, he says there is nothing we can do, our hands are tied!" I love the idea of this club, but in execution, unless you are super paid, it's a joke.
