by Lashawn G. on Ok, now I would have gave them 4 stars but there was a few things I did not like about this place. For the good first, when we got there I loved the atmosphere grown and sexy for real exactly the kind of place I was looking for...we sat at the bar and i remember something about half price apps so we first looked at the menu to get some drinks had this fabolous drink with cumcumber (can't remember the name) but it was fantastic! Ok, so we get our table then order the app. but didn't find out to later that you had to order and eat the app. at the bar to get the special price...now to say the least the food was good but kind of on the expensive side. The live music was great they were having the next Atlanta best competition so it was very interesting. I do not know when I will be back went about 2 Weds ago but my boyfriend got charged an extra $10 on his ticket which I didn't know...I threw my ticket away so I'm not sure if they charged me an extra $10 on mine as well. Also, watch your odometers on your vehicles if you valet parking because just by chance my boyfriend went out to my car to grab something and he seen one of the damn valet guys about to drive my car off the damn lot??? Are you for real....needless to say make sure you know what you have in there before you go or at least drive your hooptie there!
by Johnie Chai on Fag Friday at the Endup is an institution: that's where Michael Tolliver in Tales of City won the jockey shorts contest but lost the favors of his lover Jon Fielding. I knew about the place from reading the book before ever coming to San Francisco, and was really excited to see that it's still (somewhat) happening. For some reason, people seen to either love or hate Fag Fridays... I myself went through ups and downs, and did not go for several years as I got tired of the scene. But I went again a year ago or so and had a pretty good time. First, it's one of the very few gay clubs that stay open after hours on Friday nights (which is a little sad for a city like SF). So expect it to become packed and interesting only late at night (after 1 or 2am)... and it actually does get really packed on certain nights. The music: house. The crowd: SF gays... fairly polished though you don't get as many circuit boys as at the Gus Presents parties (thank goodness!). It can definitely be a good place to meet people (I've very often struck conversation with random guys there), and the outdoor patio is a lot of fun in the summer: great for taking a break from the craziness of the dance floor, and great for people watching. A few cons: the cover ($15 or so?), the drinks aren't super cheap, and there's a serious bathroom problem (expect to wait a good 15 to 20 minutes late at night). Nevertheless, it's a pretty fun place to go, and again, one of the only gay dance clubs to stay open late on Fridays.
