by Tien Whitebird on One of the worst sushi restaurants I've ever been to. Completely overrated and overpriced. I got the omakase, and it took over 2 hours for about 6 dishes to be served, and the restaurant wasn't even busy. The fish wasn't fresh, the rice was cold, dry and hard. The black cod was way too sweet with all the sauce they put on it. For the choices of omakase starting at $80, I expected a lot of fish, and they were serving soba noodles with bacon as one of the dishes...I felt cheated!...it had parmesan in it which made it taste weird...c'mon Morimoto, real Asian food doesn't have cheese in it...cheese goes on Italian noodles! The chilean sea bass had the same black bean sauce any mom and pop restaurant in Chinatown would put on their fish. My friend got the surf-n-turf and the lobster was good, but not worth the price and really nothing special. On my way out, as I was waiting for my car at the valet, I started talking to some of the other patrons who were also on their way out, and they also agreed the food was very mediocre. Perhaps they were just having one of their off-days, but I was thoroughly disappointed with this experience. Maybe I'm just pissed because I've gotten more and better quality sushi for the same price at some of the other omakase experiences I've had, like Sasabune.
by em c. on This place looks like a million dollars threw up. The drinks and service are OK, but sometimes the music is so loud you literally need to scream at the person across the table. 3 stars for their efforts at modern decor.
