by eric f. on okay, since when has there been a "soup lady" and whats her effing schedule? apparently el rio now hosts another cuisine aside from bbq, a DONATION soup lady. thats right, you decide how much the soup is worth! as much as i like the sound of this, it puts me in a bit of a pickle. street food these days can be a bit pricey, so its hard to gauge what the soup is ACTUALLY worth. and a huge part of me want to be a cheap ass and donate like $1 or $2 and get the best deal ever in SF, but that would just make me a huge douche... so i ask, Rateclubers, what is a "fair" donation? anyways, el rio is great. the patio rules.
by Olin Riddel on I was fortunate to go with my two foodie gf's - it was all our first time. Atmosphere: It was an intimate setting and nicely decorated. Food: Really liked the menu - so many things I wanted to try. We started off with the curry puffs appetizer which were light and yummy. I was feeling a bit under the weather so I opted for the coconut soup - oh so good! My friends ordered some sushi and pad thai and were quite fond as well. Looking forward to trying again.
