I am very familiar with the midtown area but hadn't seen Kat's Cafe although it is right off of 10th and Piedmont. It is tucked in amongst the houses and has limited parking. Anyway, we went with a few friends to hear their friend's band play (confusing, I know). It was a cold rainy night and the coziness of the bar was perfect, the lights were dim and it just had a really good vibe. We were all snuggled comfortably into our seats listening to great music. ...So, we were among great friends and would have had a good time regardless there were a few downfalls.... The service was lacking, in a big way. It took 15 minutes to get a drink and when we ordered food only half of it showed up. The other half had been "forgotten". We re-placed the order and waited 40 minutes. When it did arrive, it was just okay, nothing to write about. I was a little disappointed but I give 3 stars for the atmosphere and 1 for the service. I will definitely give it another chance, it may have just been a bad night for our server, I hope that was the case.
by Ambrose Pott on Opera provided nothing but rude, disrespectful, and unreliable customer service. Do not try to contact this Tony person that's on their website, because he won't do anything for you. They kept my friends and I outside for over an hour and a half even though it was my birthday, we were on the guestlist, we were there early and willing to pay. I understand that it's Hollywood and you have to wait...but the doormen didn't let ANYONE in for 45 minutes except for some of their friends who they let cut in line. When we were finally fed up of being ignored we took our business else where. Opera obviously doesn't know how to run a business as they lost at the very least a grand of revenue from my party. And guess what....they had no one to fill their extremely empty club once we left. I think things worked out for the best because we ended up going to Busby's, where I think we had a thousand times more fun than we would have had at Opera. Props to Busby's. Opera...if I could, I'd give you negative five stars.
by Dan M. on Was visiting a buddy in LA and we came here on a Wednesday night for dinner. The portions are on the smaller side, but the food overall was decent. I wanted to substitute asparagus for the mashed potatoes and my waitress said that the chef wouldn't put it on the same plate, odd. Whatever, I just told her to let him make it the way he wanted. The decor is really nice and made me forget I was at a restaurant off the freeway. The manager came over to speak with us which was cool, but then again it was a dead night. I wanted to head over here the following night, but after reading reviews on rateclubs I chose not to. I headed over to Hollywood instead and had no problem getting into places, but I feel like I would have here, just for the fact that it was me and another dude trying to get in.
