by Iffat B. on ****3.5******* I had the burger with American cheese and it was good, but not amazing. My friends and I shared the zucchini fries and the french fries. Again, they were good, but nothing I couldn't find anywhere else. I still think Vortex is best burger place in Atlanta! I did, however, love the decoration in this place. It's so cute! The Krispy Kreme milkshake was also good, so if you go make sure you try a milkshake!
by Julia b. on I had my 2nd dining experience at XIV last night. The first time i came was with a group of girlfriends during DINEla week. We sat on the patio and really enjoyed the dine LA menu. For $44 dollars for 3 courses, i left feeling very satisfied with my meal. Last night I came back for my mothers birthday. We ordered off the regular menu, and sat inside. I had made my reservation on http://opentable.comand had noted it was my moms birthday. I was really surprised that when we got seated at our table, a birthday card from the general manager was waiting for my mom! Classy! The decor of the main dining room is amazing. I love it. The one downside is that it get really loud around 8pm. It's very much a young vibrant scene. It's definitely "hollywood". Everyone is looking around at eachother constantly. I started off with the tempura scallops. The tempura portion is actually just tempura flakes on the plate. It was good, but the scallops were slightly gritty. My fiance had the pear and tomato salad. It was a very beautiful presentation, but the tomatoes lacked flavor and very few pieces of lettuce/tomato/pear had dressing on them. All in all the appetizers were meh... For my main course i had the lobster pot pie. WOW! this dish was crazy good. Order it just for the presentation alone! They bring out a huge saucepot and cut off the pastry that is over the top to place it on your plate. They then arrange the lobster pieces on your plate and scoop out the carrots and potatoes from the saucepan. For about 5 minutes my waiter was drizzling delicious creamy sauce over my plate. So good! It made up for the meh apps for sure! My main disappointment with this place was the service, the noise, and the desserts. The service was not good. The waitress was nice and friendly, but we waited a very long time for each course and generally felt pretty ignored. We waited 30 minutes for our dessert course to come out. My pear desert was okay - pretty bland, but very cool presentation. The worst part was that there were these weird freeze dried crunchy things on the bottom that literally were disgusting. I thought they were put in my dish by mistake? I hope so because It tasted terrible and pretty much ruined the entire dish. All in all, cool fun place. If i do go back again it wont be on my dime and i'll be skipping the dessert!
