by John T. on I had a gay friend in town and despite having been to a few gay bars with other gay friends, I had never been here before. It was hilarious. We went on a Tuesday night and they had karaoke. Some of the creatures howling in there were incredible, what a riot! It's less pretentious than Q and it's a much more mixed crowd so you don't feel like you have to fit in. Drinks prices are what you would expect in this neighborhood but they do have a cool downstairs piano bar. Just watch out for the old-school locals who will keep hawk eyes on you down there from the moment you go in. The piano guy does take requests though and did a couple of decent Beatles tunes for us!
by Willie Guzzo on I have been excited for this place to open as I used to like eating at what it used to be Eat on Sunset. They did a really nice job with the decor of this place, and sitting on the patio for your meal or drinks has a really nice atmosphere. As mentioned before, the service was excellent. Our waiter took the time to explain everything on the menu and give us recommendations. The flatbread and beans that they serve you when you sit down was off the charts. For our main dishes, we ended up trying the Pig Steak (which was excellent), and the kobe beef carpaccio was awesome. The only thing I would say is that the drink prices are pretty steep (ranged between $12-14, but what do you expect, this is Hollywood). We really enjoyed our time at La Vida, and can't wait to go back!
