by Sarah D. on Double date at the swanky Prime Rib. I must say, the name is a bit in your face and generic. This silly reason had kept me from dining here for years. I lived in Baltimore, where the first Prime Rib is located and just thought it was a "chain." Well, finally I put it to the test.... The decor was out of a 40s movie, old fashioned and sleek. On a Thursday night they had live piano music - coming from a grand piano, with a see-through lid! I've definitely never seen that before.... Our seats were part of a clustered sofa set-up. Half of our table sat on the sofa and the other half sat in comfy leather chairs. We ordered seafood appetizers and then ordered the Restaurant Week Menu. Our escargots was superb....along with tuna tartar and a so-so oysters rockefeller. I don't care for creamed spinach - so that dish was a bit nauseating . The restaurant week menu was three course - starting with salad...tasty. And then came the main event. My boyfriend and I ordered, but of course - the PRIME RIB. You don't come to a restaurant with this name and order chicken! (which one of our guests did). Out of this world. The juice and the flavor was so good. It was generous portion, enough for me to take half of it home. We all got the classic creme brulee for dessert. Overall, the place impresses. Our waiter was young and competent. If you have the $ to spend it is worth it for the ambiance and the steak!
by Karie B. on This theatre is so beautiful. The architecture, design and restoration work is spectacular. This a first rate place to see a movie! The only thing that saddens me is that this theatre doesn't show movies on a consistent basis. I wish they did!! If you get a chance to attend the Los Angeles Conservancy Series "Last Remaining Seats" then you will get a fantastic movie / live show experience at the Orpheum.
